Hi All and Thank you for the kind comments! I do plan on spending more time down at the “challenge” but I still have to come back to reality throughout the month for business reasons. It is quite the sight traveling down with 4 dogs and 3 chickens in tow – I pray I never get pulled over!!! I definitely will be posting photos of the progress – finally get to plant the peas this weekend!
They look delicious. I like your video cuz it moves along quickly and doesn’t omit any necessary details. I’ll probably try doing these on the weekend. Thanks

I'm kind of torn between the MSR Flex and the GSI Pinnacle mess kits. Both have pros and cons in opposing areas. The GSI Pinnacle has a frying pan that doubles as a cover but the MSR flex system the frying pan is an additional purchase. The GSI comes with a stuff sack that can double as a wash basin which is a plus. The GSI seems to have an easier to grip handle where the MSR wire handle folds over to hold the cover but this will not help hold a frying pan in place like the stuff sack from GSI. The GSI pot cover is Lexan with bowl like design and strainer but being plastic one wouldn't want to leave it on in a fire where as the MSR is metal and flat and could be left on in a fire but the flat design would not redirect heat back into the pot. The MSR plates are deep dish plates of higher quality that nest with the pots where as the GSI plates are flat plastic and not as versatile. The MSR has two pots but I would gladly trade one for a frying pan. In the great outdoors one isn't going to have many dishes going so two deep pots are not as desirable as a pot and frying pan. The Cups and Mugs are comparable between the sets so no issue there.
You need to Understand something:
First off, not all Electricity is produced from Fossil Fuel. And in the next 20 years, it will probably come more from Dams, and Windmill Generators. Therefore, you CAN have Electricity without creating ANY Pollution.
Secondly, Electric Cars will need LESS Maintanence!! This means that they are quieter, and Cheaper to Maintain!! This means that you wont have to change Motor Oil as often in an Electric Engine, compared to a Gas Engine. No Spark-Plugs, no Fuel Lines; none of that stuff!! I wish my Car was Electric!!
Last of all, the Price of Electricity is controlled DIRECTLY by its Availability, becuase it is so EASY to produce. It is Renewable, and it is so widely used in Houses. The reason Gas is getting more expensive has to do with its Supply & Demand. The Supply is not going to be around Forever. Gasoline is ALSO NOT Renewable, and takes Millions of Years to naturally be produced by the Environment. And you CANNOT create Artificial Gasoline, because of its Chemical Properties. You can ALWAYS Create your own Electricity!!
And you can ALSO Create your own Hydrogen with Electrolysis!!
And of all of our Problems with Health & War, Since when is Population EVER a Problem. It is Population Density, and if you Travel enough, you will find that there is enough land in the World that is Decilate enough, that we will not have ANY more Problems with a World 5 TIMES our Current Population, than we do now!! By that time, we will be able to Populate Space Colonies!!
So why would you have any desire to Decrease World Population?? That sounds like a Terrorist Plot!!
The Baby Bleu is sinful!

nobody wins? the energy is going to be used to get it into my house one way or another. i alwas wondered why our drains and toilets didn't have a dyno on them. sure, it requires energy to pump water up to the house. but once it
s up there it's going to make it's own way back. anyone questioning these basic principals with things like laws of thermodynaics and stuff
like that is just not looking at things logicaly.

Jules Verne was a 'visionary', a man who could see the future, in a way. He lived at a time when technology was speeding up. New inventions were being seen almost every day, and things that seemed impossible were becoming possible. People imagined what life might be like in another 50 or 100 years. That was what Jules Verne (and others) wrote about.
The Nautilus, an electric submarine, was just an extension of the available technology of the age. Verne was only speculating what another 10 or 20 years might bring, and how one brilliant man who knew a lot of science could be more powerful than a whole navy!
The second quote is the 'flip side'. Technology changed the way people thought. 100 years before, sailors felt at the mercy of God when they went off on a trip. They feared storms and even the absence of wind. In Verne's time, ships were faster and safer, and didn't depend quite so much on natural conditions like weather and wind. So people no longer felt a religious connection to sea travel, the need to pray for good wind and weather, or to be thankful afterwards for actually reaching their destination alive.
There are some good lines in this vein in the play Inherit the Wind. I'm paraphrasing from memory, but the 'scientist' lawyer who's defending the high school teacher says something like 'Sure, man can fly. But the birds will lose their wonder, and the clouds will smell of gasoline!' It was all about how we must give up some of our religious wonder as technology advances, and what used to be considered 'magic' or 'miraculous' becomes commonplace and well-understood.
